Schiff’s Bases Metal complexes in Biological Applications

Abstract: The article gives an insight into the use of Schiff 's bases as the ligand for the synthesis of various metal complexes. The coordination chemistry is dominated by the utilization of Schiff 's bases as ligands in the study of metal complexes. Further these metal complexes are used extensively in biological field along with many other applications. Several metal complexes of schiff 's bases have been used as antimicrobial agents, DNA cleaving agents, as sensors etc. Thus a glimpse of such several applications h… Show more

“…Moreover, Schiff bases are also found to be excellent pharmcophore, and therefore nd promising applications in modern drug discovery [29,30]. A variety of schiff base compounds has been reported to exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities, including anti-tumour, anti-bacterial, antifungicidal and anticarcinogenic properties [31,32]which also tempted us to explore the role of our synthesized compound as an anticancer drug by attempting in-silico docking studies on target protein.…”

“…A lot of work has been reported on how structure influences the properties of molecules [1,2]. Organic Schiff bases have been investigated and reported for their medicinal applications [3,4]. Some of them have been applied as nonlinear optical (NLO) materials and served as a protective shield for the human eyes and other sensors from intense laser lights/beams [5,6] while some have been used to inhibit the corrosion of metals [7,8].…”
