Agriculture is an industry that contributes to the economic growth and social progress of many countries worldwide, as well as positive impacts to the environment. However, the agricultural industry also faces many challenges such as the quality of crops and land available for farming activities, climate change, poor economic conditions for farmers, and lack of technology. As the agricultural trend is towards achieving food security, improving nourishment, and advancing sustainable agriculture, Smart Farming harnesses the potentials of Industry 4.0 revolution to achieve the goals outlined. The critical consideration would the intention of farmers to integrate and adopt these smart, connected technologies in their farming activities. This study examined the behavioral intention to use Smart Farming technologies from the perspective of farmers using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). A cross-sectional study was conducted using quantitative method. Data were derived from farmers in Malaysia via a face-to-face survey in 2021 (n = 381). Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression was applied for model and hypothesis testing. The results indicated that performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FC) influenced the behavioral intention to adopt SFT. Social influence (SI) was found to be the strongest predictor of behavioral intention. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of applying UTAUT to examine the behavioral intention to adopt Smart Farming among farmers. In practice, this study also provides implications for the Sarawak government to advance digital inclusion for all communities to achieve high income and advanced status by 2030.

Games have played an impactful life in our current generation brimming with technological advancement. Not only has it become the main source of entertainment for people to enjoy, but it has also transitioned to becoming a learning experience for others. With our current repetitive standards and methods of teaching and learning in schools, the mind of many students has dulled their creativities as well as developing the extrinsic motivation to study at all. However, the implementation of game learning can be developed into modern-day teaching and be used as a tool for students to grasp their potentials and be motivated to learn level more using games. From the mix mode research conducted, many tertiary students would rather replace their conventional studying methods with a game learning experience. The player will be able to understand, develop listening skills and verbal communication skills towards other people to understand when it is necessary to be assertive in an environment. Moreover, this game will tackle the understanding of real-life decision-making skills that mimic real-life situations for players to adapt to. With that said, JomGear Grind Games aims to help students learn various skills such as creative thinking and interpersonal skills.

With the recent advancement in Internet-of-Thing (IoT) technology, smart farming has rapidly evolved as an alternative solution to improve the effectiveness of plant growth and provide a better farming management. The implementation of smart farming involves the use of technology such as big data, the internet of things (IoT), and cloud servers. It is widely known as precision farming because the process of plant growth is managed by software and a sensor-monitoring system. The applications of smart farming are widely implemented in indoor farming especially hydroponic farming. Hydroponic indoor farming is a fast-growth sector due to the lack of land for agriculture caused by urbanization. For indoor farming, grow-light is a crucial factor for plant growth. The most effective and commonly used grow light is the Light Emitting Diodes (LED) grow light. The utilization of LED grows light offers many advantages over traditional grow lighting including less power consumption, generating lower heat and recyclable. Multiple research and investigations have been done on LED’s wavelength and intensities effect on the plants. However, the duration of exposure to LED grow light on the plants has the most significant influences on the growth rate of plants. In this project, an investigation into the photoperiods of the LED grow-light has been deployed for lettuce. The photoperiods are 14 hours of LED, 8 hours LED, combination of 8 hours sunlight and 3 hours LED, and compare with 8 hours sunlight. The presented results concluded that 14 hours of LED grow light duration on hydroponic vegetables has the most promising growth rate in indoor hydroponics lettuce farming.
