Objective: to identify sociodemographic and health characteristics according to age groups and to analyze the association between self-assessed health status and satisfaction with regular/bad life with sociodemographic characteristics, global functioning and falls of older adults linked to home care within the primary health care network. Method: cross-sectional study with 124 older adults, conducted using home interviews. A sociodemographic data and health status questionnaire was used, together with Barthel Index, Lawton Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale (IADL), the Mini-Mental State Examination, the Geriatric Depression Scale and the Timed Up and Go Test. Bivariate and multivariate analyses (Poisson regression) were applied. Results: there was a predominance of female octogenarians. Self-assessment of regular/bad health was associated with mild (p=0.002) and severe (p<0.001) depressive symptoms. Satisfaction with regular/bad life was associated with fear of falling (p=0.019) and with mild (p<0.001) and severe (p<0.001) depressive symptoms. Conclusion: depressive symptoms were associated with a worse life satisfaction and health self-assessment.

Objective: To analyze the prevalence of dissatisfaction with life and associated sociodemographic factors. Method: A cross-sectional, population-based study was carried out. Data collection was performed using the Brazil Old Age Schedule (BOAS) questionnaire. A total of 573 older adults from the urban area were interviewed, selected through cluster sampling, stratified by sex. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square and prevalence ratio with a 95% confidence interval (CI). For multivariate analysis, the Poisson Robust regression model was applied. Variables were entered into the model using the backward method. Results: The prevalence of dissatisfaction with life was 15.53%. Dissatisfaction with life was associated with women (PR=1.54; 95% CI: 1.02; 2.32), being illiterate (PR=2.57; 95% CI: 1.44; 4.60), having up to four years of schooling (PR=1.79; 95% CI: 1.01; 318) and having an income of less than two minimum wages (PR=3.29; 95% CI: 1.29; 8.42). In the multivariate analysis, being female (PR=1.50; 95% CI: 1.01; 2.25), being illiterate (PR=2.54; 95% CI: 1.42; 4.54) and having up to four years of schooling (PR=1.77; 95% CI: 0.99; 3.14) remained associated with dissatisfaction with life Conclusion: the prevalence of dissatisfaction is low. Dissatisfaction with life was associated with sex, education and income, in a bivariate manner. Sex and education were predictors of dissatisfaction with life. These findings reinforce the need for actions to promote social equality between men and women and to facilitate the access of older adults to education.

Objetivo: identificar a prevalência de resiliência em idosos comunitários e sua relação com o apoio social e a satisfação com a vida. Método: estudo transversal, realizado com 159 idosos. Os dados foram obtidos por meio das escalas de Resiliência, Apoio Social e Satisfação com a vida. Resultados: apresentaram baixa resiliência os idosos do sexo feminino, com idade mais avançada, que não sabem ler e escrever, solteiros, residem sozinho, não trabalham, recebem até um salário mínimo, estão insatisfeitos com a vida e apresentam alto apoio social. Os idosos insatisfeitos tem 4,72 vezes mais probabilidade de apresentar baixo nível de resiliência. Foram encontradas correlações positivas entre a resiliência e o apoio social (p=0,022) e entre satisfação com a vida e a resiliência (p=0,000). Conclusão: a resiliência esteve relacionada com o apoio social e satisfação com a vida. Resultados: se encontró baja resiliencia en adultos mayores que eran mujeres, mayores, solteros, vivían solos, no sabían leer ni escribir, no trabajaban, recibían hasta 1 salario mínimo, estaban insatisfechos con la vida y tenían un fuerte apoyo social. La resiliencia tenía 4,72 veces más probabilidades de ser baja en los adultos mayores insatisfechos. Se encontraron correlaciones positivas entre resiliencia y apoyo social (p = 0.022), y entre satisfacción con la vida y resiliencia (p = 0.000). Conclusión: la resiliencia se relacionó con el apoyo social y la satisfacción con la vida.
