SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Seroprevalence in Industry Workers in Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia

Abstract: Objectives: To examine seroprevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antibodies in industry workers population sample. Methods: From 23 to April 28, 2020, we conducted serological testing for antibodies (Immunoglobulin G (IgG) and Immunoglobulin M (IgM)) on 1494 factory employees living in the Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin County (Croatia). Results: We detected antibodies i… Show more

“…These findings are compatible with other international studies, whose seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 was between 1 and 10%. [18][19][20][21][22] However, the data from this study differs from other studies based on the Brazilian population.…”

“…Elsewhere, however, seroprevalence among non-HCWs has been much lower. SARS-CoV-2 antibody seroprevalence was 1% in Croatia, just prior to easing of nationwide COVID-19 restrictions in late April 2020[19]; 9-11% in France following the initial pandemic wave[20]; 20% in Chicago, Illinois, US during the summer of 2020 following easing of COVID-19 restrictions[21]; and 19-22% in Iran following the initial pandemic wave[22].…”

“…Several seroprevalence studies were conducted after the first pandemic wave, in specific population groups showing low seropositivity (1.27–5.19%) [ 11 , 12 , 13 ]. The prevalence of neutralizing (NT) antibodies was even lower (<1%) [ 12 ].…”
