“…BrNAbs with long CDR H3 are promising candidates for prophylaxis and antibody‐based immunotherapy. 122 , 123 Other viruses, such as influenza or SARS‐CoV‐2, 124 may benefit from a similar approach, eliminating the need for expensive annual vaccinations or offering a therapeutic response to prevent pandemic outbreaks. 125 The TcB platform for producing hIgs is still relatively new, and products are only now making their way into clinical trials.…”

“…Influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 virus are two important pathogen causing respiratory tract infection, both viruses are highly contagious with high rates of mutation, which makes clinical antiviral treatment difficult ( 18 ). Chinese herbal extracts have direct or indirect antiviral effects on different periods of viral infection by targeting key steps in the viral replication cycle and key cellular components of the host defense system ( 18 , 19 ). For example, pentagalloyl glucose extracted from the plant emblica can inhibit the release of virus particles ( 20 ), and dendrobine extracted from dendrobium interferes with early virus replication ( 21 ).…”

“…Since the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is novel, no one has pre-existing immunity to it. A peculiar trend of SARS-CoV-2 infection has been observed in adults or patients with a weak or compromised immune system, leading to influenza-like symptoms, namely cough, fever, myalgia or fatigue 1 , 2 , and death in severe cases (like acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia) around the globe 3 . To everyone’s surprise, no such severe symptoms or need of hospitalization has been reported in children although children under 5 years of age have a less-developed immune system compared to adults and are more vulnerable to diseases like influenza or common cold.…”
