“…At necropsy, the incidences of thyroid granulomas in two large series of cases of sarcoidosis were 4.6% and 6.5% (3; 4). Four categories of thyroid involvement accompanied by sarcoidosis have been described: granulomata in the thyroid gland with normal thyroid function, hypothyroidism, thyroiditis without hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism (5). In our case, the sarcoidosis developed after the elevated thyroid hormone decreased spontaneously, which may suggest a switching mechanism in the development of these two diseases with abnormal immunological backgrounds.…”
