Sample Preparation of Carbadox, Furazolidone, Nitrofurazone, and Ethopabate in Medicated Feeds for High Pressure Liquid Chromatography

Abstract: Medicated feeds (pelleted or mash) containing guarantees of carbadox, furazolidone, nitrofurazone, and ethopabate are pretreated with water, extracted with 95% dimethylformamide overnight at room temperature, cleaned up on a column of alumina, and injected into a high pressure liquid chromatograph for quantitative measurement. Carbadox, nitrofurazone, and furazolidone can be separated; chromatograms show excellent baseline resolution, and results are in good agreement with colorimetric methods. The same extrac… Show more

“…It is used to treat vaginitis due to Candida albicum and Tricomom r jaginilias [ 31. Nitrofuroxime has been used in conjunction with furozolidone in the treatment of candidiasis as a powder for insufflation or as vaginal pessaries [3-51. The various methods that have been employed for the determination of nitrofuroxime in its pharmaceutical preparations include spectrophotometry [ 6,7], turbidimetry [ 8 ] , and high performance liquid chromatography [9]. Polarographic determination of some nitrated heterocyclic compounds containing reduction sites of types similar to that of nitrofuroxime was carried out [ 10-121, but little attention has been paid to the electrochemical study of this compound.…”

“…Most of the previously published methods for the determinations of OLQ, CBX, NF, FZ, and NTV in feed are concerned only with one (single) drug in feed (1-4, 8, 9, 11, 14, 16-19), and a few experiments were conducted to simultaneously determine two (5,10,12,13,20,22), three (15), or four drugs (21). As for this work, there were no reports on the simultaneous determination of residual drugs of OLQ, CBX, NF, FZ, and NTV in feed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).…”
