Soil physico‐chemical properties are important for best management practices. We measured infiltration, bulk density, texture, water retention and chemical profiles from the surface to 1.0 m and lithology to 50 m depths at 30 sites. The infiltration data were fitted to the cumulative and infiltration rate models of Philip and Horton. The same sites were used for water retention, physico‐chemical properties and lithological assessment. The cumulative models fit persistently better than their infiltration rate forms. The Horton cumulative model fitted statistically better than the corresponding Philip model. The dominant steady‐state infiltration rates were 15–30 and 30–45 mm h−1 over the entire profile. Sandy loam, loam and silt loam were the dominant soils. The percentages of sandy loam decreased, whereas silt loam increased, with depth. Water retention parameters and lithological strata were diverse and in harmony with physiography. Soil organic matter varied up to 2.5%. No sodicity or salinity was detected except in sparse saline seeps. The central tendency and extrema of the measured parameters were compatible with the literature, and the CVs of the soil hydraulic parameters were greater than those of the physical parameters. Comprehensive data are presented, which will serve as an important reference for regional and global repositories.

Salinity is a serious abiotic stress that adversely affects plants. Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is not a salt tolerant crop and salt stress is a major problem for its productivity. One way to mitigate salt stress is to inoculate with salt-tolerant growth-promoting rhizobacteria. The purpose of this study was to isolate local strains of salt-tolerant rhizobia and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria and to study their ability to promote soybean growth on saline soils. In our study, isolates of rhizobia and phosphatesolubilizing bacteria were isolated from the rhizosphere and nodules of soybean growing on saline soil. Their growth under salt stress conditions was studied and high salt-tolerant isolates were selected: three isolates of rhizobia and four phosphate-solubilizing bacteria. Under salt stress, isolates of rhizobacteria were studied for nodulation and phosphate solubilization, and active strains were selected. This strains were identified by the molecular genetic method of Sanger. It was found that rhizobia RH21, RH26, RH28 refers to Bradyrhizobium japonicum, phosphate solubilizing bacteria to Pseudomonas koreensis FT4, Bacillus pumilus FM12 and Bacillus sp. FC11. The inoculation with rhizobacteria mitigated of the salt stress was showed. This is demonstrated by an increase in indicators of growth of inoculated plants. The co-inoculation with two strains rhizobacteria (RH28 and FT4) most effectively mitigated salt stress: the roots weight was increased by 3 times, shoot by 2.7 times and number of nodules by more than 3 times compared with control without salinity. Our study showed that inoculation with local strains of salt-tolerant rhizobacteria increased resistance to salt stress, improved growth, and promoted ecological adaptation of soybeans to saline soils.

Cocosnucifera L. farms in Indonesia are smallholder plantations, and the cultivation methods used have not been properly considered, leading to a low yield.The study aimed to identify the coconut cultivation method and evaluate the systems' suitability according to the recommendation on small-scale farmer plantations in the North Aceh regency. Within the North Aceh regency, we interviewed 135 coconut farmers in three different districts, i.e., Baktiya, Sawang, and Dewantara.The data collected and analysed using R-studio and the non-parametric chi-square test. Around 83% of the respondent in Sawang practice mixed culture in coconut farming, 53% in Baktiya, and 40% in Dewantara. The majority of the coconut variety planted is from the farmer's local garden.Coconuts are usually harvested manually by climbing, with harvesting occurring three to four times each year.Coconuts are picked and shipped immediately to collectors without prior sorting or storage.The annual production of coconuts varies significantly amongst the three districts. Baktiya produces approximately 4.87 tonnes of coconuts annually, while Sawang and Dewantara yield 1.34 tonnes and 0.80 tonnes, respectively.In general, respondents have not carried out the cultivation process in accordance with regional recommendations for planting coconuts.
