Abstract: This study compares safety, efficacy, and cost of the new oral Factor Xa inhibitor rivaroxaban to fondaparinux, an injectable anticoagulant, for prevention of VTE (venous thromboembolism) after hip or knee arthroplasty within an IRF (inpatient rehabilitation facility).
