Ruído no interior das incubadoras em unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal

Abstract: Objectives: To identify levels of sound pressure level (NPS) inside the incubator and the sources of noise in that microenvironment of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a university hospital. Methods: Descriptive quantitative study, conducted in incubators for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a university hospital in São Paulo. The records were obtained by NPS dosimeter, totaling 261 hours, 48 hours of records of the sources producing noise. Results: There were high NPS inside the incubators. Greater Leq … Show more

“…Alguns estudos identificaram a terapia intensiva como ambiente de cuidado ruidoso (6,(9)(10)(11)(12) , indicando a necessidade de redução do ruído na perspectiva de tornar esse ambiente mais saudável e seguro para todos que atuam no cenário de terapia intensiva (13)(14)(15)(16) .…”

“…13 The literature has also documented that one of the main risk factors for hearing loss, in newborns, is the exposure to noise inside incubators for more than seven days. 14 Based on researches indicating the high sound pressure levels (SPL) to which newborns are exposed in the NICUs 16 , inside the incubators 17 and from the assumption that knowledge is one of the main guidelines of the human conduct, it is inquired whether the implementation of an educational program for professionals enlightenment and sensitization may help to reduce the NPSs from NICU environments and inside the incubators in order to minimize deleterious effects of noise, and also promote acoustic comfort to the newborn.…”
