RP ‐ HPLC Method for Determination of Piperine from Piper longum Linn. and Piper nigrum Linn

Abstract: Piper longumLinn. andPiper nigrumLinn. are used as spices and medicines. Quantitative determination of piperine was undertaken to provide an easy and simple analytical method, which can be used as a routine quality control method. RP-HPLC was performed using methanol and water as mobile phase. The detection and quantification was performed at a wavelength of 345 nm. Linearity of detector response for piperine was between the concentrations 0.005% to 0.1%. The correlation coefficient obtained for the linearity … Show more

“…The formation of Pd NP was monitored with the help of UVvis spectrometry. The UV-vis spectrum of green synthesized Pd NPs using piper longum fruits extract ( Figure 5) showed the significant changes in the absorbance maxima due to surface 20 plasmon resonance demonstrating the formation of Pd NPs. Also, the progression of the reaction, formation and stability of palladium nanoparticles were controlled by UV-vis spectroscopy.…”

“…HPLC analysis of crystallized piperine was performed by standard method (Santosh et al, 2005;Shingate et al, 2013). An analytical high performance liquid chromatography (Shimadzu, LC 20A HPLC series, Kyoto, Japan) with variable wavelength, programmable photo diode array detector, column oven and reverse phase 5 m C 18 Supelco column (250 × 4.6 mm) (Sigma-Aldrich, USA) was used.…”

“…The TV were estimated by method reported by Shaikh et al (). The piperine content was estimated by HPLC method reported by Santosh et al () with slight modifications as follows: A Merck pheurosphere STAR RP18e column (5 µm × 250 mm × 4.6 mm) was used for analysis on Dionex HPLC system on a diode array detector (Thermo Fischer, Mumbai, India). The mobile phase consisted of methanol: deionized water (DI) (80:20, vol/vol).…”
