Rotational States inNe20Excited by the ReactionO16(

Abstract: The reaction 0 16 (Li 7 ,£)Ne 20 has been studied at 16-MeV incident energy. The reaction is found to proceed essentially by a direct mechanism, exciting only those rotational bands in Ne 20 which are allowed by the selection rules in the SU(3) scheme.

“…As in the previous case this spectrum resembles the data obtained with the fLi, /•) reaction. 15, 16 Our results are consistent with the assumption that the ( 12 C, 8 Be) reaction mainly populates two rotational bands (see Ref. 16, and references given therein): (i) the positive-parity band based on the ground state and containing the 1.63-(2 + ), 4.25-(4 + ), and 8.79-MeV (6 + ) states.…”

“…Zelenskaya et al (172) applied this to the ex transfer in the reaction 160(6Li,d) 2°Ne and emphasized that states of non zero a width should be populated preferentially. This experiment proved that states belonging to (AJ.L) = (80) classification are strongly excited (82)(83)(84) . In pursuing this scheme some of the high, strongly excited states in 2°Ne could be comprised into bands (83,155) .…”
