Rotation aligned bands and configuration dependent interaction in189Hg

Abstract: High spin states in lSgHg have been studied using the lSlTa(Z4N, 6n) reaction. The various one-and three-quasiparticle rotational bands were interpreted within the cranked shell model. The band-crossing frequencies are found to depend on the number of spectator particles. The effect can be accounted for by a residual two-body interaction of appr. -0.11 MeV.Nuclear Reaction: lSlTa(14N, 6n), E=100MeV; measured E~, Iv, 7~)-coin, 7(0), ce-ce--coin, lS9Hg deduced levels, J, re. Ge(Li), NaI, Si(Li) detectors.

“…A portion of the level scheme of 189 Hg relevant to the present study is displayed in figure 1. This is consistent with previous reports in references [10,13,18,22,41,45]. Measurements were performed using γγγ(t) technique [43,44].…”

“…In the heavier mercury isotopes, a systematic even-odd staggering in experimental B(E2) in both positive-and negative-parity bands, decrease in B(E2, 33/2 + → 29/2 + ) and increase in B(E2, 12 + → 10 + ) is observed as one moves from light to heavy isotopes [3,5,8,11,13,40,41]. The different trends of B(E2) values in the mercury isotopes with 190…”
