“…The surface plasmon resonance of Au NR successfully generated local heat to inhibit bacterial contamination. 55 Furthermore, PDT–PTT multimodal payload delivery has also been addressed by various groups. Meeker et al designed a photoactivatable nanostructure using staphylococcal-targeting protein-daptomycin-encapsulated gold nanocages.…”

“…PTT has greater specificity, minimum invasiveness, and accurate spatial–temporal selectivity compared to traditional therapy techniques . Various kinds of biocompatible materials and their hybrids are being explored to achieve higher efficacy such as carbon dots, liposomes, and gold nanoparticles. Transition-metal chalcogenides (TMDs) are prominent candidates for PTT among other photothermal agents because of their good biocompatibility and exceptional absorbance in the NIR range that provides larger skin penetration depth and are amenable to surface modification. This enables the absorption peak to be fine-tuned to a very narrow wavelength range which increases PTT specificity. , Among the TMDs, tungsten disulfide (WS 2 ) with its atomically thin structure is emerging as a top candidate for the next generation of photothermal agents.…”

“…8,9 Currently, various NIR laser absorbing nanomaterials were proposed to improve the photothermal conversion efficiency of PTT, including carbon nanomaterials, semiconductor nanoparticles and gold nanostructures. [10][11][12] Among these materials, goldbased nanomaterials have been widely investigated, such as nanorods, nanostars, nanocages and nanoshells, and etc. 10,[13][14][15] Compared with other shapes of Au nanomaterials, AuNBPs, a novel type of Au nanostructures with two sharp tips, have attracted great attentions owing to their stronger and narrower localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and photostability.…”
