Room temperature fabrication of magnetic covalent organic frameworks for analyzing sulfonamide residues in animal‐derived foods

Abstract: A magnetic solid phase extraction method based on magnetic covalent organic frameworks (TpBD@Fe 3 O 4 ; 2,4,6-triformylphloroglucinol (Tp) and benzidine (BD)) combined with high performance liquid chromatography has been developed to detect the sulfonamides including sulfadiazine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethazine, and sulfamethoxazole in milk and meat. TpBD@Fe 3 O 4 were synthesized at room temperature under mild reaction conditions with a simple and rapid operation. The TpBD@Fe 3 O 4 exhibited higher extraction … Show more

“…The MSPE has been widely used in the separation, enrichment, and detection of different analytes, such as organochlorine [13], glycoproteins and glycopeptides, and various biological substances [14][15]. In MSPE, an appropriate adsorbent is crucial for obtaining high extraction efficiency toward the analytes [16]. Among the various MSPE adsorbents, research has been focused on the magnetic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which is a kind of porous crystalline material with periodic multidimensional network structure formed by metal ions or metal cluster units and organic ligands through coordination action.…”

“…TpBD@HPLC has a high extraction efficiency due to the π-π and electrostatic interactions between the benzene ring structure of TpBD and the molecules of sulfa; the composite can be used in combination with HPLC to extract and detect SAs, including sulfadiazine, sulfadimethazine, and sulfamethoxazole, in milk and meat [17]. Other studies proved the use of core-shell magnetic COFs with HPLC microspheres as the magnetic core, TpBD COFs as the adsorption shells, and SPE adsorbents for the analysis of complex food samples.…”

“…Recently, COFs have been widely used in MSPE of different sample matrices. For example, Gong et al [26] have prepared magnetic COFs (TpBD@Fe 3 O 4 ) for the detection the sulfonamides in animal-derived foods. Tian et al [27] have synthesized amino-functionalized magnetic COFs (TpBD-(NH 2 ) 2 @Fe 3 O 4 ) for the analysis of trace sulfonylurea herbicides in environmental samples.…”
