Room temperature and high response ethanol sensor based on two dimensional hybrid nanostructures of WS2/GONRs

Abstract: Here in this research, room temperature ethanol and humidity sensors were prepared based on two dimensional (2D) hybrid nanostructures of tungsten di-sulfide (WS2) nanosheets and graphene oxide nanoribbons (GONRs) as GOWS. The characterization results based on scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (ESD), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the hybrid formations. Ethanol sensing of drop-casted GOWS films on SiO2 substrate indicated increasing in g… Show more

“…Interestingly, the response in humid air was increased, which is related to physisorption of H 2 O on the surface-active sites and formation of water-water hydrogen bonds that caused proton hopping. 205 Biomass carbon (BC) has been deemed an intriguing option for a commonly identied sacricial template owing to its porous morphology and its particular area of surface, which enhance the adsorption and diffusion of target gases. 206 In this study, porous carbon was employed as a bio-template for the generation of hemp sticks.…”

“…Nevertheless, another chemical vapor process, chemical vapor transport (CVT), is being used for growing these materials with high quality for gas sensing applications. [52][53][54] Both CVD and CVT processes have a similar chemical vapor approach for synthesizing 2D materials. However, this review is limited to the growth of 2D material nanostructures using the CVD process only.…”

“…33 Table 3 compares prior reported capacitive gas sensors' LOD and response time to ethanol at room temperature. 3,[34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42] When exposed to the anion-contaminated layer, ethanol with a dipole moment of 1.67 and a dielectric constant of 24 was adsorbed and desorbed by hydroxyl groups and oxalates at the AAO anioncontaminated site; the sensing mechanism is illustrated in Figure 5.…”
