Abstract:Summary
The liver is damaged by sustained ischaemia during liver transplantation, and the reperfusion after ischaemia results in further functional impairment. Ozone oxidative preconditioning (OzoneOP) protected the liver against ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury through different mechanisms. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the inhibition of protein synthesis on the protective actions conferred by OzoneOP in hepatic I/R. Rats were treated with cycloheximide (CHX) in order to promote … Show more
“…Recently, it was reported that OOP is able to afford protection against injury associated with hepatic ischemiareperfusion and cellular damage mediated by free radicals [19][20][21][22]. These authors have provided evidence that ozone may induce an adaptation to oxidative stress and also prepare the host to face physiopathological conditions mediated by ROS.…”

“…Moreover, ozone could prepare the host to face physiopathological events mediated by reactive oxygen species (ROS). It has been demonstrated that ozone induced protective effects in renal and hepatic Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury [3][4][5][6][7]. This phenomenon was called ozone oxidative preconditioning (OzoneOP).…”
“…It has been used in an empirical fashion in recent years for therapy of viral hepatitis. Rectal insufflation with ozone can reduce hepatic and renal ischemia-reperfusion injury [10][11][12][13][14][15] . Yigan Fuzheng Paidu Capsules (YC), an empirical formula, is a compound preparation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for treating chronic viral hepatitis.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
