Rock magnetism

Abstract: I have the responsibility of reviewing the advances made in rock magnetism (and paleomagnetic data analysis) over the last four years. My charge includes the specific invitation to comment on the use of rock magnetism in the service of paleomagnetism. This is, of course, a distinction that is often difficult to draw. It could be argued that there are no rock magnetic studies that do not, at least ultimately, serve paleomagnetism.
