Robust Implementation of Corrosion Inhibition Squeeze CIS Program Extends the Well Completion Lifetime Case Study

Abstract: Oil producers completed with carbon steel were threatened with sweet corrosion due to early water breakthrough and the presence of carbon dioxide in the associated produced gas. In severe cases corrosion led to problems which interrupted production and put the wells in an unsafe service condition. Remediation or replacement of damaged tubing was not cost effective or not feasible. A robust corrosion inhibition program through periodic squeeze treatment was implemented. Optimized and improved through the years … Show more

“…[1][2][3] In general however, while scale inhibitor squeeze treatments are considered routine and a large range of different chemicals types and treatment strategies can be applied for different scaling regimes, reservoir formations and downhole conditions etc., corrosion inhibitor squeezes tend to be much more ad hoc, and based on field trials with available chemicals.…”
