Robust Constrained Fuzzy Affine Model Predictive Control With Application to a Fluidized Bed Combustion Plant

Abstract: In this paper, robust constrained model predictive control of uncertain fuzzy affine systems is considered. Based on piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions, highly efficient robust constrained predictive control approaches are developed so that the closed-loop stability is guaranteed, and the transient control performance is improved even under input or state constraints. Moreover, by using approximate ellipsoid and -procedure, the solution to the fuzzy affine model based predictive control can be cast as a co… Show more

“…Among the advanced control methods, MPC has strong ability to address the issues of transient performance and deal with various constraints during design stage, appearing in [17]- [19]. T-S fuzzy model-based predictive control with the issues of stability and optimization has been designed on the basis of PLFs in [20]. Xia et al developed new sufficient stability conditions for the fuzzy MPC through the technique of slack matrices [21].…”

“…However, such as the MPC strategy in Li et al (2015) may not be effective for nominal systems with parameter uncertainties. Therefore, some extensions are made to the inevitable parameter uncertainties ( Song et al, 2016 ; Zhu, Song & Ding, 2018 ; Wang & Song, 2016 ) in the modeling process, which brings about the so-called robust MPC (RMPC) method (see e.g ., Kothare, Balakrishnan & Morari, 1996 ; Zhang et al, 2008 ; Wang, Song & Wei, 2021 ; Wang, Song & Wei, 2020 ; Liu et al, 2018 ).…”

“…In the past few decades, model predictive control (M-PC) strategy has gained much attention from a variety of engineering fields due to its great potential in handling optimal control problems with hard constraints, see e.g. [10,22,39,48]. In practical applications, the desired control inputs of the MPC strategy are calculated by solving a certain moving-horizon online optimization problem.…”
