Road traffic injured patients with severe GCS and organ injury had a poor prognosis: a retrospective cohort study

Abstract: Background Ethiopia had an increasing trend of morbidity and mortality due to road traffic injury. Road traffic injured patient’s recovery rate is affected by many different factors. Those factors might affect the duration of time to recovery. “…The GCS is a scoring system describing the state of consciousness and is also used for quantifiable determination of traumatic brain-injured patients' prognoses. For road traffic injuries, higher values of the GCS score positively reflect the time to recovery [34]. Therefore, for preventing fatality due to MVCs in child passengers, decreasing the severity of head injury and maintaining a high GCS score are considered as the highest priority.…”
