RMI1 contributes to DNA repair and to the tolerance to camptothecin

Abstract: Maintenance of genome integrity is critical for faithful propagation of genetic information and the prevention of the mutagenesis induced by various DNA damage events. RecQ‐mediated genome instability protein 1 (RMI1), together with Bloom syndrome protein and topoisomerase IIIα, form an evolutionarily conserved complex that is critical for the maintenance of genomic stability. Herein, we report that RMI1 depletion increases cell sensitivity to camptothecin treatment, as shown by an elevation of genotoxic stres… Show more

“…Two cellular RNA binding proteins of hnRNPK and NS1-BP have important roles in regulating influenza A virus RNA splicing [27] . As for the RMI1 gene, its protein is an essential component of the RMI complex, which has a crucial role in DNA repair and maintaining genome stability [28] . Since there existed important functions of these identified genes, molecular studies are warrant to illustrate the functional consequences of detected association signals.…”

“…It is a M1 marker and a key regulator of the innate immune response of the CNS during stress [ 91 – 93 ]. MIER1 , a transcriptional repressor [ 94 ], and RMI1, a DNA repair protein [ 95 ], were also positively correlated with stroke severity. Variants in these genes are associated with monocyte counts [ 96 ] and myeloid white cell counts [ 96 ], respectively; and expression positively correlates with the infiltration of monocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells in gastric carcinoma [ 97 ].…”
