“…The population may be exposed to BPA from fetal life to adulthood (Cobellis et al, 2009;Vandenberg et al, 2010;Braun and Hauser, 2011;Koch et al, 2012). Many reports claim that it belongs to the growing list of so-called endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDC; Beronius et al, 2010;Teeguarden and Hanson-Drury, 2013). Decision of a number of regulatory agencies to ban BPA from food packaging has led to the gradual development of a number of bisphenol analogs (BPA-A) to replace BPA in several applications.…”

“…Designed to draw upon the strengths of academic and guideline-compliant studies in order to address research gaps and confirm prior findings, this and all other CLARITY-BPA studies are uniquely powerful because they incorporate research recommendations published by the WHO and others (Beronius et al, 2010; Beronius et al, 2009; Chapin et al, 2008; FAO/WHO, 2011; FDA, 2012; NTP, 2008) for enhancing robustness and reproducibility, including complete data blinding, use of only one animal per sex per litter (with the litter as the experimental unit), oral dosing, inclusion of a reference estrogen, and evaluation of multiple BPA doses, particularly levels at or below the FDA NOAEL. Additionally, as in our prior, published CLARITY-BPA studies (Arambula et al, 2016; Rebuli et al, 2015), sex was considered as a biological variable.…”

“…Bisphenol A (BPA), a monomer used in epoxy sealants and plastics, has become ubiquitous in our environment and bodies, prompting concerns about its potential health impacts especially on neural development and behavior (Beronius et al, 2010; Chapin et al, 2008; FAO/WHO, 2011; FDA, 2012). Understanding how environmental factors, including endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) such as BPA, contribute to impairments in affective and reciprocal social behaviors, are of considerable interest because they are features of psychosocial disorders for which incidence is rapidly rising, including autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) (Aguiar et al, 2010; Gore et al, 2014).…”
