Risk factors for rear-end collision: a systematic literature review

Abstract: Crash accidents on Indonesia toll road in 2019-2020 as much as 61% of accidents were a type of rear-end collision. That occurs at least two vehicles that act as crashing cars and cars in the hit, resulting in economic and social losses. There is not much research in Indonesia that discusses related to the disaster behind the run. The purpose of this review is to investigate human aspects while driving and gain potential development possible to reduce the rear-end collision. Search engine in this study is Scien… Show more

“…It should be mentioned that the type of collision (rearend) was the most infuential factor in predicting the severity of accidents. Drivers, cars, and the environment are among the risk factor groupings that show strong evidence, and together they all have a role in rear-end collisions [31]. Moreover, the type of maneuver of the guilty vehicle (moving forward and turning to right) has less efect in predicting the severity of accidents compared to other variables.…”

“…These collisions encompass automobiles, motorcycles [2], trucks, and public transportation vehicles, among others [3], [4]. Road accidents are caused by reckless driving, excessive speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, driving while distracted, fatigue, and poor road conditions [5]. In Indonesia, poor road conditions contribute substantially to traffic accidents [6].…”

“…In a previous study, vehicle risk factors related to the type of vehicle, transmissions, speed, and year of vehicle production (Chen et al 2020, Didin and Iridiastadi 2020, Shao et al 2020. Occupants in trucks have a lower injury rather than a passenger in cars while rear-end collisions (Shao et al 2020).…”
