Purpose:The purpose of this experimental study was to examine the values of a death education program developed to improve life satisfaction and attitude toward death in college students. Methods: The death education program was developed and then used with 22 college students for 5 weeks, once a week for 150 min. Before and after the intervention, students responded a questionnaire developed to measure life satisfaction and attitude toward death. t-test, 2 -test, and paired t-test with the SPSS program were used to analyze the data. Results: The death education program significantly improved life satisfaction but had no statistically significant effect on attitude toward death. There was a significant difference in life satisfaction between the experimental and control groups but not in attitude toward death. Conclusion: Based on the above results, it is apparent that the death education program has an affirmative effect on life satisfaction in college students and some impact on attitude toward death. We suggest, therefore, that the death education program should be used with all human beings to help them recognize the values of themselves and their current lives and improve their satisfaction with life.

“…Other studies have failed to show statistically significant associations between parental separation/divorce and suicidal ideation/thoughts as well as between parental separation/divorce and suicide attempts (Afifi et al, 2009). Other studies entailing genderspecific analyses have revealed that the associations between parental separation/divorce and ever having experienced a suicide attempt were stronger among women than among men (Lizardi et al, 2009(Lizardi et al, , 2010, but one study showed only statistically significant results for men (Donald et al, 2006) and another study showed no statistically significant associations (Wan and Leung, 2010). In one study, the bivariate association between parental separation/divorce and completed suicide was a statistically not significant hazard ratio (HR) 1.69 (0.60-4.72), but the comparatively high effect measure was not significant due to a small number of incident cases of suicide (Geoffroy et al, 2014).…”

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has its typical onset during adolescence and usually configures a maladaptive coping strategy that serves numerous functions. Adverse psychosocial situations are related with an increased risk for NSSI. The objective of this work was to identify the most prevalent psychosocial risk factors for NSSI during adolescence and statistically significant associations between them. A convenience sample of 50 adolescents with identified history of NSSI was used. Each case was searched for the Abnormal Psychosocial Situations (APS) contemplated in the psychosocial axis (Axis V) of the International Classification of Diseases (10 th edition). The 10 more prevalent APS were present in at least 50% of the subjects. Several statistically significant associations between APS were identified, signalizing certain patterns of associations that suggest increased risk for NSSI. A proper assessment of the psychosocial contexts may allow identification of youth at risk for NSSI, and thus the institution of early intervention programs.
