Abstract: Die akute infektiöse Lungenerkrankung COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) war im Dezember 2019 erstmalig in Wuhan/China, ausgelöst durch den Coronavirussubtyp SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona-Virus-2), nachgewiesen worden. Die dadurch verursachte Pandemie stellt eine globale Herausforderung für die Gesundheitssysteme der betroffenen Länder dar.
