“…Thickened mucosal lining, opacification of the paranasal sinuses, and obliteration of ostiomeatal complex are the principal radiographic findings concerning the sinuses during mucormycosis by CT scan (100% in the present series). Also, CT scanning may reveal fluid levels, bone destruction, and osteomyelitis [ 27 , 51 ]. However, radiological findings may be non-specific initially thus serial radiological investigations are required to assess progression and extent [ 10 ].…”

“…CT scanning provides evidence for the thickening of the mucosa and turbidity in the sinuses. Infection spread to the orbit and cranial area can be evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) [ 64 ]. Opacification of the paranasal sinuses is the principal radiographic finding concerning the sinuses during mucor-mycosis.…”

“…3 MRI is the preferred imaging modality for orbital disease and is useful in determining the extent of intracranial involvement. 10 When MRI does not show a definitive abnormality, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) plays an important role in demonstrating optic nerve thickening and infarction. Ischemic optic nerve involvement manifests as high signal intensity along the nerve on DWI and a hypointense signal on apparent diffusion coefficient determination.…”
