Rheological behavior of acrylic paint blends based on polyaniline

Abstract: SbstractThe rheological properties of acrylic paints and polyaniline (PAni) blends, with different contents of PAni doped by dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid (DBSA) and, dispersed by mechanical stirrer and ultrasonic, were investigated by controlled shear rate testing ramps. The results showed that the commercial acrylic paint had tended to deliver the required stability on the blends, in order to avoid sedimentation process. All samples exhibited non-Newtonian flow behavior (shear thinning), increasing PAni con… Show more

“…Complex fluids with weakly aggregated internal structures often present thixotropic behavior, defined as a flow-induced reversible time-dependent shear-thinning viscous response [12,20]. An important criterion of thixotropy is the reversible effect, when the substance is left to rest.…”

“…In contrast, at 15% PANI loading, complete shear thinning or pseudoplasticity is observed throughout the testing range. This non‐Newtonian behavior is ascribed to the textural changes in the sample with increase in shear rate . The shear thinning arising at low shear rate is due to the rise in stiffness of system by the formation of the PANI aggregates .…”

“…A reologia é ferramenta fundamental para o bom entendimento das propriedades e aplicações das tintas e revestimentos poliméricos ROGER;TANNER, 2010;SIRQUEIRA et al, 2016;WU;QUEIROZ;MOHALLEM, 2016). O fenômeno de tixotropia é comum em tintas, sendo uma característica reológica interessante (redução da viscosidade com o tempo de aplicação de uma taxa de cisalhamento).…”
