“…The genus Copidosomopsis Girault is very similar to Copidosoma , from which it can be separated only on having a truly 5‐segmented funicle, the segments not reduced by an apparent fusion of two normally distinct articles (see Species identification , p.103 and comments under C. ancharus , p. 147). Kazmi & Hayat (1998) further separated Copidosomopsis from Copidosoma on the basis of the shape of the hypopygium, suggesting that in Copidosoma it is more or less anteriorly trilobate, whereas in Copidosomopsis it is more or less anteriorly straight and transverse. We find that separation of these genera using this character breaks down in at least two European species of Copidosoma ( dius and thebe ) in which the hypopygium is transverse and anteriorly straight.…”
