“…Table compares the CO 2 capacities of TEPA + [emim][AcO] mixed solvents and those of other solvents reported in the literature. ,,,, It can be seen that TEPA + [emim][AcO] mixed solvents exhibit much higher CO 2 capacities than [emim][Gly] + [emim][AcO] and [emim][Ala] + [emim][AcO] mixed solvents because TEPA has a much higher amine density than AAILs. TEPA + [emim][AcO] mixed solvents also exhibit higher CO 2 capacities than PEI + [emim][AcO] mixed solvents.…”

“…In addition to DEA, a widely used secondary cyclic amine solvent is piperazine (PZ). PZ has a high absorption rate, good stability, low viscosity, and high capacity [50], but is prone to form solid precipitates [51] and it is therefore rarely used as a standalone solvent. Secondary amines also generally offer the benefit of decreased energy demand for their thermal regeneration than primary amines due to their lower volatility and lower circulation rates.…”

“…Aqueous piperazine solution has also been proposed in the literature as an alternative solvent to MEA for the PCC process [20]. It has been demonstrated to have lower volatility, higher CO2 absorption capacity, twice the absorption rate of 30 wt% MEA and higher resistance to oxidative and thermal degradation [21]. It was also reported to have good heat transfer properties that resulted in a higher normalized capacity of 27% above 30 wt% MEA [22].…”

“…The 40 wt% PZ is considered as the standard solvent concentration for the PCC process with PZ. CO2 absorption with PZ has been extensively studied at pilot plant facilities such as the J.J pickle facility at the University of Texas at Austin, USA [21,29,30], the CO2 SEParation PLant (CO2SEPPL) at the EVN power plant in Dürnrohr, Austria [23,31], the CSIRO CO2 capture pilot plant at Tarong power plant in Queensland, Australia [32], and the National Carbon Capture gas Centre (NCCC) in Wilsonville, Alabama, USA [6,22,33]. The findings from the CO2SEPPL at the EVN power plant in Austria show that the regeneration energy of the PCC process can be reduced by 14% using 37.5 wt% PZ.…”
