Review of methods and technologies for the enrichment of low-grade phosphorites

Abstract: The article presents the results of generalization of known information on various methods of enrichment of low-grade phosphate raw materials in the world. Based on the review of literature materials, scientists propose several methods of enrichment: mechanical, calcination at high temperatures, flotation, chemical enrichment with various acids and salts. Analyzing and summarizing these data, the article describes the advantages and disadvantages of each proposed method of enrichment of low-grade phosphorites.… Show more

“…The presence of organic matter in sedimentary phosphates negatively influences the production of phosphoric acid by the wet process [4]; in this regard knowledge of the chemical and mineralogical composition of phosphate ores is essential to anticipate the difficulties that could appear in the choice of recovery process. Researchers have described several phosphate processing methods such as mechanical methods, calcination, flotation, chemical enrichment with various acids and salts [5].…”

“…China has abundant phosphate resources, but these resources are mainly medium-and low-grade phosphate ore, and high-grade phosphate ore accounts for less than 10% . How to fully use medium-and low-grade phosphate ore is one of the significant challenges facing agriculture in the world today (Aarab et al, 2022;Raiymbekov et al, 2022).…”

“…Producing fertilizers from phosphate raw materials is possible not only on the basis of wet and dry phosphoric acid, but also directly from phosphorites [1][2][3][4][5][6]. The bulk of fertilizers, however, is produced using phosphoric acid.…”
