Review of 3D Imaging by Coded Aperture Correlation Holography (COACH)

Abstract: Coded aperture correlation holography (COACH) is a relatively new technique to record holograms of incoherently illuminated scenes. In this review, we survey the main milestones in the COACH topic from two main points of view. First, we review the prime architectures of optical hologram recorders in the family of COACH systems. Second, we discuss some of the key applications of these recorders in the field of imaging in general, and for 3D super-resolution imaging, partial aperture imaging, and seeing through … Show more

“…Rosen et al review the prime architectures of optical hologram recorders in the family of coded aperture correlation holography (COACH) systems. They also discuss some of the key applications of these recorders in the field of imaging in general [3]. Tahara et al investigate the quality of reconstructed images in relation to the bit depth of holograms formed by wavelength-selective phase-shifting digital holography.…”

“…In addition, LC-SLM serves key role in the experimental demonstration of advanced digital holographic techniques, viz. coded aperture correlation holography (COACH) [22][23][24], Fresnel incoherent correlation holography (FINCH) [2,24], Stokes correlation holography [21,25,26], polarization holography [18,19,[27][28][29], etc. This chapter presents comprehensive literature (review) on the LC-SLM and its applicability in digital holography.…”

“…A combination of several different technologies can yield new and surprising systems. This is the case of coded aperture correlation holography (COACH) [1], a combination of three different concepts. The first is coded aperture imaging in which a computer-generated mask is displayed as the coded aperture of the optical system and the image is reconstructed digitally from the chaotic pattern recorded by a digital camera [2].…”
