In this study a total of 209 well water samples analyzed after well drilling (construction routine analysis, CRA) and a total of 121 well water samples analyzed by the current study (CS) were used to investigate the distribution of TDS and its effect by long-term pumping of groundwater. Results indicated that the majority of TDS levels (<250 mg/l) are dominant in the southern part of the study area and the levels between 500 and 750 mg/l are dominant in the central part, whereas the levels (>750 mg/l) characterized the northern part of the study area. The TDS levels increase progressively from the southern towards the northern periphery of the study area along the recharge flow direction from the Blue Nile. Trendcomparison between the CRA and the CS data indicated that the TDS levels are continuously decreasing during withdrawal-time in accord with the daily pumping rate and aquifer geochemical formation type.

Opinion words are crucial information for sentiment analysis. In some text, however, opinion words are absent or highly ambiguous. The resulting implicit opinions are more difficult to extract and label than explicit ones. In this paper, cutting-edge machine-learning approachesdeep neural network and word-embedding -are adopted for implicit opinion mining at the snippet and clause levels. Hotel reviews written in Chinese are collected and annotated as the experimental data set. Results show the convolutional neural network models not only outperform traditional support vector machine models, but also capture hidden knowledge within the raw text. The strength of word-embedding is also analyzed.

Removal of organics and ions from wastewater using a hybrid system of microfiltration membrane and microorganisms

Microfiltration membranes are not able to remove organic compounds. A hybrid system of a microfiltration membrane and bacteria was designed for separation of organic compounds and ions from wastewater. Colonies of bacteria (Escherichia coli) were subjected to sedimentation on the surface of a microfiltration membrane (0.2 μm cellulose acetate) as a complementary part of the system to enhance the removal efficiency. Three selected categories of materials i.e. preservative substances, cephalosporins and ions were used to prepare the synthetic feed. The results indicate that preservatives were reduced more than 80%, cephalosporins were removed around 60% and ions decreased more than 50% in the feed solution using this hybrid system for filtration. The interaction between bacteria and chemical materials is responsible for removal of organic compounds and ions from test solutions. However the interaction decreased over time due to the limited capacity of the bacteria.
