Reverse Cast Metallic Core Based on the Original Prosthetic Crown

Abstract: The dental crown can be restored using the root in clinical situations where the dental remnant allows adequate anchorage by the use of an intraradicular retainer. After endodontic treatment, reconstruction of the dental anatomy depends on correct planning and the type of restoration to be used. This requires reestablishment of form and function with creation of anchoring features, avoiding detachment and favoring the distribution of forces, thus preventing fracture of the remnant due to functional and parafun… Show more

“…In the functional and esthetic reconstruction of teeth, lithium disilicate ceramics (IPS E-max) have presented as one of the main materials, with important characteristics as high resistance to compression and abrasion, color stability, biocompatibility, radiopacity, coefficient of thermal expansion similar to the dental structure and great ability to simulate the natural appearance of teeth [2,55,56]. In this case, we selected the esthetic rehabilitation of anterior teeth with ceramic crowns due to the esthetic excellence, mainly due to absence of metallic margin [57].…”

“…Besides esthetics, the goal of provisional dentures is to lead the soft tissue to the best cervical contour, as demonstrated in the technique of gingival conditioning by gradual pressure of provisional crowns. Since this is a non-surgical procedure and is considered minimally invasive because it does not remove soft tissue, gradual pressure is considered a safer technique, eliminating the risk of postoperative complications and anatomically and functionally restoring the components of the stomatognathic system (BUCHAIM et al, 2014;PEREIRA et al, 2019).…”

“…It should also be considered that prosthodontics can be considered an art; as such, it is not adaptable to strict regulations. Whenever possible, the clinician should avoid the symmetry of dental positions, individualizing the denture to each type of patient and oral cavity (McCord & Grant, 2000;Batista et al, 2000;Pereira et al, 2019).…”
