“…66 As shown in Figure 5, our results demonstrated the impact of the "OXTR-PKMξ" pathway on LTP/synaptic plasticity. Consistent with other studies, 37,67,68 the decreased levels of OXTR in a mouse model in this study supported the association between OXTR and autism. Furthermore, exposure to lowdose O 3 has exacerbated this downward trend, suggesting the function of environmentally relevant air pollutants on the severity of autism.…”

“…Previous studies have investigated the induction of autism-like behaviors in mice offspring through exposure to gaseous pollutants and individual VPA. Prenatal exposure to a high concentration of mixed gases (average concentrations of CO, NO 2 , SO 2 , and O 3 were 13.5 ± 2.5, 0.341 ± 0.100, 0.275 ± 0.07, and 0.135 ± 0.010 ppm, respectively) has shown potential to cause autism-like symptoms in offspring. , However, it remains unclear whether a single gas pollutant is capable of inducing similar symptoms. Based on our results focusing on O 3 exposure alone, it can be inferred that O 3 at this dosage did not lead to adverse consequences comparable with VPA in mice.…”

“…Beta-carotene has been proved could rescue autistic-like social behavior in BALB/c and BTBR mice through enhancing brain oxytocin, oxytocin receptor gene expression and serum oxytocin levels (Bales et al, 2014;Avraham et al, 2019Avraham et al, , 2021. Decreased oxytocin receptor (OXTR) and serum oxytocin levels were also reported in valproic acid (VPA) induced ASD models, and administration of oxytocin improved social behavior in these induced anminals (Hidema et al, 2020;Tsuji et al, 2021;Imam et al, 2022).…”
