Resveratrol regulates inflammation and improves oxidative stress via Nrf2 signaling pathway: Therapeutic and biotechnological prospects

Abstract: Usually, in aerobic metabolism, natural materials including nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids can experience auxiliary injury by oxidative responses. This damage produced by reactive oxygen/nitrogen species has been identified as “oxidative stress.” As a natural polyphenol got from red wine and peanuts, resveratrol is one of the most eminent anti‐aging mixtures. Based on many studies', resveratrol hinders destructive effects of inflammatory causes and reactive oxygen radicals in several tissues. The nuclear … Show more

“…Recent research has discovered that IMI can induce the overproduction of ROS, disrupt the antioxidant system of grass carp hepatocytes and cause oxidative stress 53 . In addition, numerous studies have confirmed the ability of RSV to mitigate oxidative stress 63,64 . In our study, exposure to IMI resulted in decreased CAT, SOD, and GPx activities, decreased T‐AOC, and increased MDA content in chicken lymphocytes, which were alleviated after RSV treatment.…”

“…53 In addition, numerous studies have confirmed the ability of RSV to mitigate oxidative stress. 63,64 In our study, exposure blasts 68 and mercury-induced necroptosis in mouse macrophages. 69 Consistent with the previously stated discoveries, the expression of necroptosis-related factors Caspase 8, RIPK1, RIPK3, and MLKL was upregulated after exposure to IMI, suggesting the onset of necroptosis, while RSV attenuated necroptosis induced by MAPK signaling pathway activation in chicken lymphocyte lines.…”

“…64,65 Resveratrol is demonstrated as an Nrf2 activator to increase the expression level of Nrf2 and has a potent antioxidant activity. 66,67 Consistently, our study showed that 3,4′,5-TMS protected the liver from oxidative stress damage by improving blood lipids and fatty liver, and reducing ROS levels via increasing Nrf2 expression which in turn induces the expression of downstream antioxidant factors, including HO-1, NQO1, CAT, and SOD. These enzymes collectively contribute to cellular antioxidant defense and provide protection against oxidative stress.…”

“…Containing cysteine residues, Nrf2 participates in the transcriptional regulation of many antioxidant genes, including enzymes that regulate the rate of glutathione synthesis. Activation of Nrf2 by pro-oxidant factors or specific Nrf2 activators (e.g., resveratrol, quercetin, and astaxanthin) is associated primarily with conformational changes in the Keap1 inhibitory protein [ 21 , 38 , 39 , 40 ]. In a rat model of PCOS, Li et al [ 23 ] confirmed that granulosa cells (GCs) under oxidative stress show high levels of Nrf2 and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1).…”
