Restoring Congenitally Missing Maxillary Lateral Incisors Using Zirconia‐Based Resin Bonded Prostheses

Abstract: The zirconia-based resin-bonded prosthesis constitutes a viable and conservative treatment modality for the replacement of missing teeth either congenitally or from another etiology in young patients in which implant therapy and a fixed partial denture are currently contraindicated.

“…The matrix of the duplicate cast of the wax‐up can be used with dual‐cure bis‐acryl material for the fabrication of the provisional restorations. After contouring, finishing, and polishing of the provisional restoration, it is bonded to the palatal surfaces of the abutment teeth with a spot‐etch and bonding technique . Also, provisionalization can be done with a composite tooth fixed on the buccal surfaces of the abutment teeth with an orthodontic wire and dental composite, so the prepared dental surfaces are not used and kept untouched as they are reproduced in the dental impression …”

“…A number of therapeutic options are available, including removable partial dentures, fixed prosthodontics, resin-bonded bridges or implants in association with prosthetics crown. Recently, an alternative treatment modality has been reported in which a zirconia-based resin-bonded prosthesis is used to restore congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors 13. Fibre-reinforced composite bridge also offers a good treatment alternative to conventional treatment options for replacement of permanent anterior teeth until a more definitive treatment can be planned 14.…”
