Restoration of interferometric images

Abstract: Abstract. We present in this paper a study of the imaging properties of the Large Binocular Telescope interferometer, focusing our attention on what we believe to be the most relevant effects, namely the limited angular coverage and the partial adaptive optics (AO) correction. For this purpose we make use of the Software Package AIRY (Astronomical Image Restoration in interferometrY), designed for multiple deconvolution of interferometric images and presented in our previous paper. We also consider as our test… Show more

“…In previous papers (Bertero & Boccacci 2000;Correia et al 2002;Carbillet et al 2002;Anconelli et al 2005), we developed methods and software for the deconvolution of multiple interferometric images of the same astronomical target. One of the results is the software package AIRY (Astronomical Image Restoration in interferometrY), and version 3.0 is now available (see http://dirac.disi.unige.it and http://www-luan.unice.fr/caos).…”

“…In previous papers (Bertero & Boccacci 2000a,b;Correia et al 2002;Carbillet et al 2002;Anconelli et al 2005a) we developed methods and software for the deconvolution of multiple interferometric images of the same astronomical target. Moreover, our group has produced the software package AIRY (see http://dirac.disi.unige.it), which can be used in conjunction with the software package CAOS (Code for Adaptive Optics Systems; Carbillet et al 2005), within the common CAOS "problem solving environment" (see http://www.arcetri.astro.it/caos or http://www-astro.unice.fr/caos).…”

“…1. It is a model of young binary star surrounded by a dusty circumbinary ring, described in Carbillet et al (2002). It is directly inspired by nearinfrared observations of the T-Tauri binary star of the quadruple system GG Tau and subsequent modeling by Wood et al (1999).…”
