Adaptive learning is an approach toward personalized learning and places the concept of “learner-centered education” into practice. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence and other technologies in recent years, there have been many breakthroughs in adaptive learning. Thus, it is important to gain insight into the evolution of related research and to track the research frontiers to further promote its development. This study used CiteSpace and VOSviewer to conduct a bibliometric analysis of 644 adaptive learning journal papers indexed in the WoS database from 2000 to 2022. This study presented a general view of the field of adaptive learning research over the last two decades using quantitative analysis. Currently, adaptive learning research is rapidly developing. In terms of the major research forces, a core group of authors including Qiao J. F., Han H. G. and Song Q has been formed; the major publishing country in this field is China; the core publishing journals include IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems. Four major research topics in this field were identified using cluster analysis, namely the application of deep learning in educational data analysis, the development and application of adaptive learning model in AI education, the development and application of intelligent tutoring system in tutoring and teaching, cutting-edge modeling technology for feature modeling and knowledge tracing. Through evolution analyses, the logic of adaptive learning research’s development was determined; that is, technological changes have played a key role in the development of this field. Following the logic, we presented three frontiers of adaptive learning with burst terms: feature extraction, adaptation model and computational modeling. Adaptive learning is a core research topic for both computer science and educational technology disciplines, and it is also an important field where emerging technologies empowering education and teaching can play a part. The findings of the study clearly presented the current research status, evolutionary logic and research frontiers of this topic, which can provide references for the further development of this research field.

Artificial Intelligence has been developing technically for decades, but it is in 2022 when the irruption of ChatGPT shakes the foundations of educational systems and all teachers, academics and people involved in one way or another in education. The need arises to know what it is, what it is for and what implications it can have on our systems, models and strategies in education. In this article we explain what Artificial Intelligence is and address some reflections on its educational impact. We also suggest in this article some Artificial Intelligence tools that may be useful to teachers, researchers, students and in general, to anyone interested in knowing a little better what this innovative technology -which we have called the "fourth educational revolution"- can be used for. Finally, we make some recommendations on their use in education. La Inteligencia Artificial lleva desarrollándose técnicamente durante décadas, pero es en 2022 cuando la irrupción de ChatGPT hace temblar los cimientos de los sistemas educativos y de todos los docentes, académicos y personas involucradas de un modo u otro en la formación. Surge la necesidad de saber qué es, para qué sirve y qué implicaciones puede tener en nuestros sistemas, modelos y estrategias en educación. En este artículo explicamos qué es la Inteligencia Artificial y abordamos algunas reflexiones sobre su impacto educativo. Además sugerimos algunas herramientas de Inteligencia Artificial que pueden ser útiles a los docentes, a los investigadores, a los estudiantes y en general, a cualquier persona interesada en conocer un poco mejor para qué se puede usar esta tecnología innovadora que hemos denominado como la "cuarta revolución educativa". Por último, hacemos algunas recomendaciones sobre su uso en educación.

La innovación educativa en el ámbito de la enseñanza científica ha demostrado en los últimos años la importancia de integrar tecnologías digitales. Para integrar estas tecnologías es necesario tener en cuenta el contexto (el nivel educativo) y contar con profesorado formado en competencias digitales docentes. En este artículo hemos realizado una búsqueda y análisis de diferentes experiencias educativas de enseñanza científica apoyadas en el uso de tecnologías avanzadas en todos los niveles educativos reglados (infantil, primaria, secundaria y universidad). Las buenas prácticas seleccionadas se caracterizan por ser experiencias reales apoyadas en tecnologías avanzadas y con datos de evaluación que ponen de manifiesto sus buenos resultados. Están catalogadas en función del nivel y del tipo de tecnología utilizada (robótica, realidad extendida, plataformas/apps, videojuegos e inteligencia artificial). Destacamos el caso del proyecto Create-Skills en el cual se ha utilizado una plataforma colaborativa para promover la colaboración entre profesorado y familias con el fin de implementar una enseñanza activa de disciplinas científicas en primaria.
