Responses of PYR/PYL/RCAR ABA Receptors to Contrasting stresses, Heat and Cold in Arabidopsis

Abstract: Plants growing in natural habitats have evolved a wide range of mechanisms to copy with environmental challenging, including biotic and abiotic stresses. Abiotic stresses-induced increases in Abscisic acid (ABA) levels in plants suffering from stresses, including drought, cold or heat stress. To explore the function of the core components in ABA signaling, we used the overexpression of RCARs transgenic plants to expose in heat or cold stress. In this study, overexpression of RCAR12 or RCAR13 (R12-OE or R13-OE)… Show more

“…When cold acclimation ended, a large amount of ABA accumulated. ABA levels were increased in plants that were stressed, such as those under drought, cold, or high temperature stresses, and ABA played a crucial role in plant stress resistance [42][43][44]. During cold acclimation, ABA accumulation can induce the expression of some cold-resistant genes to improve freezing resistance [45].…”

“…Moreover, expression of ABA1 , ABA4 and AAO3 increased remarkably compared with the controls. The PYL genes are core components of the ABA signalling pathway in Arabidopsis seedlings (Zhang et al 2019). In this study, expression of PYL2 , PYL3 and PYL9 was significantly upregulated under CAPPs.…”

“…The OsPYL10 gene causes overexpression of the ABA receptor and has been identified as a potential source to enhance cold and drought tolerance in rice (Verma et al 2019). ABA receptors RCAR12 and RCAR13 can improve cold and heat tolerance (Zhang et al 2019). The ABA-dependent signaling cascade involving CsbZIP18 negatively regulates freezing tolerance (Yao et al 2020).…”
