Response of Soybean to Halosulfuron Herbicide

Abstract: Recently, halosulfuron injury in soybean through off-target movement of halosulfuron when applied to rice fields has been reported. Sulfonylurea-tolerant (ST) soybean varieties have enhanced tolerance for sulfonylurea herbicides and might provide an option for mitigating injury to soybean from halosulfuron drift. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of halosulfuron on growth and yield of selected soybean varieties with ST trait alone and stacked with glyphosate resistance trait. Soybean plants wer… Show more

“…For percent visual injury and plant height reduction, regression analysis determined the relationship of each variable to dicamba rate and is best described by a three-parameter sigmoidal equation (Nandula et al 2009). The regression equation for each variable was computed using Sigma Plot (Sigma Plot, version 12.5; Systat Software Inc., San Jose, CA). …”

“…For soybean mature height and yield, we observed a significant dicamba rate–by–growth stage interaction. Regression analysis determined the relationship of each variable to dicamba rate and is best described as a nonlinear exponential decay model (Nandula et al 2009; White and Boyd 2016). Regression equations for each variable were computed using Sigma Plot. …”

“…Outro ponto a ser ressaltado é que o herbicida halosulfuron (69 g ha -1 i.a.) apresentou-se tolerante para soja STS  (Nandula et al, 2009). Portanto, devido a sua eficácia no controle de muitas plantas daninhas e sua seletividade para cultivares STS  , pode vir a ser empregado em associação com glyphosate no manejo de plantas daninhas em soja RR  /STS  .…”

“…The halosulfuron herbicide was shown to be effective in weed control and selective for STS soybeans (NANDULA et al, 2009). The application of this herbicide, isolated or in combination, is also reported as effective in controlling weeds, such as Armoracia rusticana (JOHANNING et al, 2016), Chenopodium album, Amaranthus retroflexus, and Ambrosia artemissifolia (LI et al, 2016).…”
