“…El calcio (Ca +2 ) es un ion relacionado con la estabilidad y fuerza mecánica de la pared celular, ésta propiedad se atribuye a la unión cooperativa de las cadenas poligalacturónicas con los iones calcio para formar pectatos en la lámina media (Conway et al, 1995;Halevy et al, 2001). Un estudio realizado por (Albino-Garduño et al, 2008), demostró la importancia del Ca en el cultivo hidropónico de Gerbera jamesonii, y reportó que bajas concentraciones (6 meq Ca +2 L -1 ) reducían la producción, diámetro de la cabezuela y calidad (longitud y firmeza) del escapo con respecto a 9 y 12 meq Ca ++ L -1 . Tratamientos con calcio mantuvieron la firmeza del fruto en poscosecha; melón "Campsol" (Rinaldi, et al, 2004) y en manzanas (Poovaiah, 1988;Dilmaghani et al, 2005).…”
