Resource Allocation for Multi-User Downlink URLLC-OFDMA Systems

Abstract: In this paper, we study resource allocation algorithm design for secure multi-user downlink ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC). To enhance physical layer security (PLS), the base station (BS) is equipped with multiple antennas and artificial noise (AN) is injected by the BS to impair the eavesdroppers' channels. To meet the stringent delay requirements in secure URLLC systems, short packet transmission (SPT) is adopted and taken into consideration for resource allocation design. The resource allo… Show more

“…Taking into account the results from FBL communication theory, many researches have studied several radio resource management techniques and investigated various URLLC enablers to further boost the 5G performance. Particularly, optimal power allocation and subcarrier assignment policies for DL multi-user scenarios are proposed in [47] and [48], respectively. The authors in [49] adopt multi-class queuing theory to design and analyse the network performance of URLLC.…”

“…However, applying this does not change the problem formulation and the provided solution of this paper. Performing periodic channel state information (CSI) measurements, we assume that the CSI knowledge is available at both transceivers [33], [47], [48]. CSI acquisition procedure is run in parallel with packet scheduling and tight resolution periodicity (e.g.…”

“…Recently, there are increasing research studying the transmission design based on the short packet transmission capacity formula [8]- [14]. In specific, the effective throughput maximization was studied in [8] for a two-device downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system.…”

“…Hence, TDMA strategy is not suitable for the applications in industrial applications with extremely stringent latency target. On the other hand, the authors in [13] [14] studied the resource allocation for multiple devices operating under the orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) mode. Unfortunately, this requires huge amount of system bandwidth, which is not feasible as some industrial applications operate over unlicensed spectrum [15].…”
