Natural disasters and cyber intrusions threaten the normal operation of the critical Multi‐Energy Systems (MESs) infrastructures. There is still no universally‐accepted definition of MESs resilience under the integration of cyber and physical, and lack of a widely accepted methodology to quantify and assess the resilience in MESs. Hence, this paper introduces an extensive review of the state‐of‐the‐art research of power systems’ resilience. Then, this work proposes the definition of the Multi‐Energy Cyber‐Physical Systems (MECPSs) resilience and its related characteristics. To improve the resilience of MECPSs, this paper investigates extreme natural disaster models and analyses the vulnerability of the system to find the key constraint factors. Furthermore, this work presents the qualitative assessment curve, quantitative indexes, and assessment framework of the MECPSs resilience. Finally, the key improvement measures for the planning and operation of MECPSs resilience and the focus of future research are presented.

Occurrence severe event with high-impact and low-probability (HILP), can cause significant disturbances to power grids. The strength of the system to withstand such HILP events is interpreted as system resilience. This paper proposes a novel approach for hybrid AC/DC microgrids with the aim of resilience enhancement and based on a linear stochastic two-stage scenario-based minimax relative regret (LSTS-MMRR) optimization according to the optimality robustness concept. Photovoltaic array and wind turbines, microturbines, and energy storage systems are scheduled based on the proposed approach in microgrids. Considering the uncertainty of emergency duration due to disruption from the upstream grid, the optimization problem is decomposed into standard and critical stochastic situations. This work also quantifies the importance of uncertainty with the well-known quantities named Value of Stochastic Solution (VSS) and Expected Value of Perfect Information (EVPI). For both normal and emergency circumstances, exclusive objective function and constraints are considered. Meanwhile, time-related variables maintain their continuity between normal and emergency circumstances. Therefore, the proposed approach minimized the maximum regret of objective function through defined scenarios. The proposed technique is compared with two common methods in resilience enhancement issues, and its effectiveness is demonstrated through an analysis of the VSS and EVPL.

Severe events such as floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes cause disruption in the distribution networks and cause them to be islanded. In such circumstances, microgrids can be separated from the main grid with the help of their technical and communication infrastructure and transfer energy with each other to reduce their operation and outage costs. Therefore, energy management in a networked microgrid requires a modern operating framework to cause microgrids to supply each other with the energy they need. So, in this paper, a cooperative framework to improve the resilience response of microgrids has been proposed based on peer-to-peer energy transactions. In the developed model, since the microgrids are operated in a cooperative and networked manner, they sell energy to each other at the lowest possible cost. Utilizing the developed model, microgrids can improve their resilience response by peer-to-peer energy transactions in addition to reduce their operating costs, compared to the independent and non-cooperative models. To evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method, simulations have performed on a system with 14 microgrids, and the obtained results have compared and analysed. The results obtained have shown the efficiency of the proposed method in increasing resilience and reducing operating costs.
