“…Imidacloprid was registered for use against CPB on potatoes in 1995 and soon became the primary means of controlling them in many potato‐growing areas in the USA 21. Initially, the incorporation of imidacloprid in the soil provided long control of overwintered adults and larvae of CPB,22 and foliar applications controlled summer generations when used at intervals of 7 days or more. In Long Island, high mortality was observed in the first year in borders around potato fields treated with imidacloprid, and no recovery of affected beetles was observed (Moyer DD, unpublished results).…”
