Research on the Collaborative Application of BIM in EPC Projects: The Perspective of Cooperation between Owners and General Contractors

Abstract: As an effective way to reduce costs and increase efficiency of EPC projects, BIM technology has drawn a lot of attention in numerous countries. Existing studies have failed to reveal the BIM decision-making mechanisms of owners and general contractors in EPC projects in a dynamic method. This study investigates the underlying logic of the collaboration application of BIM by analyzing the dynamic behaviors of owners and general contractors based on evolutionary game model. The results show that the most effecti… Show more

“…In detail, there are two outstanding research teams whose influential leaders are Seonaidh Mcdonald and Kannan Govindan, respectively (both are also top collaborated authors). As a result of this, we suggest scholars increase cooperation regarding this topic with others, which is proved useful to enhance research effectiveness and efficiency (Li et al, 2021; Sun et al, 2021).…”

“…In engineering practice, some large-scale construction projects have the characteristics of complex technology, difficult management, and high management risk. As the only contract subject, the EPC project contractor needs to bear greater risks [7]. Large-scale construction projects often require joint completion by multiple companies, and the logistics of engineering construction is an important guarantee for companies to participate in international engineering projects.…”
