Research on SINS/GPS integrated navigation system based on grid reference frame in the polar region

Abstract: For the rapid response of the aircraft, it is required that the aircraft is not only quick but also chooses the shortest flight routes. The great circle track is the shortest flight route on the earth between any two points, but the great circle track needs to cross the polar region when the aircraft flies over the hemispheres of East and West. Because the polar region has some particularity, such as the landform characteristics, the climatic conditions, and the vast territory, the transpolar aircraft is the k… Show more

“…In this way, the azimuth attitude is relative to the Greenwich meridian and its parallel line, which is grid navigation. The grid navigation and the grid coordinate system have been described in the author's literature [12], so that the author don not bore you with unnecessary details. The celestial navigation is an old method of navigation and position, and the irreplaceable of celestial navigation is determined by the autonomy of celestial navigation.…”

“…We can use global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) to solve the above problems, including the use of high-precision navigation methods [14]. But the following difficulties arise [15]:…”

“…Thus, the traditional north-oriented integrated navigation systems cannot work properly in high latitude regions. The grid SINS based integrated navigation algorithms are proposed for flight and the GNSS and star tracker are employed as external measurements [ 18 , 19 ]. However, for marine application, the GNSS and star tracker cannot achieve the long-distance signal transmission under water.…”
