Se presentan resultados de una revisión documental en el campo de la Educación Matemática que establece conexiones teóricas y metodológicas entre el Enfoque Documental de la Didáctica (EDD) y la Mirada Profesional del Profesor (MPP). La metodología utilizada contempló tres momentos: clasificación, selección y análisis, y como resultados se plantea que desde el EDD y la MPP se han realizado investigaciones que dan cuenta de las prácticas del profesor de matemáticas. Conceptualmente el EDD tiene raíces cognitivas que centran la atención en el sistema de recursos de un profesor y la MPP, por su parte, estudia la actividad situada del profesor. En las metodologías revisadas se identifica un interés compartido por el estudio de las lecciones. Los resultados muestran también la necesidad desde el EDD por conectar los procesos documentales de los maestros con los resultados de la instrucción, como las prácticas discursivas en el aula, el uso de tareas complejas y desafiantes, el aprendizaje conceptual, etc. Frente a la MPP se identifica la necesidad por comprender la diversificación y desarrollos metodológicos propios para fortalecer sus métodos de recolección de datos y de análisis tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos.

We report on a study focused on identifying and describing the representations of mathematicians contained in Mexican textbooks of lower secondary level. We considered representations not only in the text but also in drawings, photographs, and illustrations in general. The term mathematician was understood in a broad sense: any person (or group of people) that in the textbook either (1) was explicitly referred to as a mathematician, (2) was credited with the development of a mathematical concept or tool, or (3) was displayed performing some sort of mathematical activity (such as counting, modelling, etc.). The results show that the representations that most frequently appear in the textbooks are white male mathematicians (mainly Europeans), who lived in ancient times; the representations of female mathematicians are almost nil. At the end of the paper the implications of these results are discussed, and some directions for future research are suggested.

Research on curriculum resources in mathematics education: a survey of the field

This survey describes the structure of the field of research on curriculum resources in mathematics education in the period from 2018 till 2023. Based on the procedures of a systematic review relevant literature was identified using Web of Science as a database. The included literature was analyzed and categorized according to the type of curriculum resource and the area of study. Seven areas of studies were identified: studies on the role of curriculum resources, content analysis, user studies, studies on the effects of curriculum resources, studies on curriculum resource design, curriculum resources as data, and reviews. The areas were further subdivided into different subcategories based on the research questions of the included papers. The findings show that research on mathematics textbooks is still predominant in the field. The most popular areas of research are content analysis, user studies, studies on design, and studies on effects. Emerging areas are research on students’ use of curriculum resources and the employment of user data from digital curriculum resources as data basis in mathematics education research.
