Research on Flatness Error Measurement of Revolving Body End-Face

Abstract: According to problems of flatness error measurement of revolving body end-face, sampling method and evaluation method are studied in this paper. First, spiral sampling method is presented, in order to meet the needs of flatness error measurement sampling of revolving body end-face. Second, combined with least squares method, mathematical model applied to flatness error measurement evaluation of revolving body end-face is proposed. Finally, through the simulation, the mathematical model is proved to be correct.

“…Besides, Vrba et al [27] also recognized the three different sampling strategies, involving the circumferential section method, the generatrix method, and the helix path method. Likewise, the spiral sampling method introduced by Guan et al [28] can be exploited for form error assessment. Significant efforts can be listed out in the literature that were sought to identify the appropriate sampling strategy.…”

“…For instance, three-point distribution algorithms, including circumferential section method, generatrix method, and helix path method, were developed by Vrba et al [29]. Likewise, Guan et al [30] developed a spiral sampling approach for the evaluation of flatness error. The speed of the linear and the circular movement was the essential factor in spiral sampling.…”

“…Moreover, helix path method resulted into least accuracy due to the combined effect of positioning errors and stylus position in the direction of all three axes. Similarly, the spiral sampling method proposed by Guan et al 62 can be utilized for flatness measurement. Since spiral movement is a combination of linear and circular movement, spiral generation can be governed by two movements.…”
