Research on carbon emission differences decomposition and spatial heterogeneity pattern of China’s eight economic regions

Abstract: To explore the sources of regional carbon emission differences and the evolution characteristics of spatial heterogeneity pattern, this paper first calculates the corresponding carbon emissions according to the relevant statistical data of eight economic regions in China from 2005 to 2019. It analyzes the overall differences and temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of regional carbon emissions combined with the visualization method of GIS. Then, the total carbon emission difference is decomposed by t… Show more

“…The feasibility requires that the allocation of quotas is economically, technically, and managerially feasible. Enforceability means that the allocation scheme and the final result can be recognized by the allocation object, taking into account the historical emission level of each industry and the sustainable and stable development of the industry in the future ( Zhang et al, 2022a , Zhang et al, 2022b ). The principle of sustainable development is an important guarantee for the implementation of allocation programs.…”

“…This would have a double negative impact on China’s carbon market. The risk transmission between carbon emissions and the electricity market is rooted in the oil market, where uncertainty in the oil market affects the price of electricity to a certain extent [ 51 ]. The high or low price of electricity affects the use of energy types for power generation, which could increase or decrease carbon emissions.…”

“…Secondly, synergistic cooperation among regions is essential to break down barriers of agricultural carbon emission reduction in the process of agricultural modernization. Based on the resource endowment of different regions [41], governmental or nongovernmental organizations can establish inter-regional carbon market trading mechanisms and carry out inter-regional cooperation through market mechanisms in achieving agricultural carbon emission reduction [42]. Thirdly, encouraging agricultural producers and consumers to participate in green emission reduction programs cannot be overemphasized.…”
